It was a few weeks ago, but I had the pleasure of being a narrator at the Tulsa State Fair Surgical Suite again this year. It is always a lot of fun! This is Wilma. A rescue that Rescued and Ready brought in over the weekend. She has a significant case of demodex and is receiving medicated baths and special medicine to treat this type of mange. Demodex are non-contagious mites that live in the hair follicles. They are shaped like cigars with tiny legs on the end. Can you see them on the skin scraping slide I made from her?
