PSA… Why dental cleanings are important
Sometimes all that severe plaque and calculus build up is hiding more significant disease underneath. In this case, several teeth had oral resorptive lesions which with dental radiographs, revealed the severity of the lesions under the gum line. Affected teeth were extracted and this patient’s mouth will be much more comfortable. Plus the mouth will not be a source of infection that can spread to other organ systems (eg.. heart valves, liver, kidney etc). Dental cleanings help to keep patients healthy! Healthy mouth, healthy body.
